Wisconsin Students Testify for Cancer Funding

WASHINGTON - Two Wisconsin high school students were in Washington Wednesday to testify at a congressional hearing in support of H.R. 1553, the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2007.

Both cancer survivors, 17-year-old Alexander Meseck of Sheboygan, and 15-year-old Gayle Trepanier of Cedar Grove, stopped by Rep. Tom Petri's office on their way to the hearing.  Meseck said that he was approaching the two-year anniversary of his diagnosis, and was participating in the lobbying effort with approximately 40 "cancer students" from around the country.

H.R. 1553 would establish new childhood cancer programs through the National Cancer Institute.
