Woodland Fire Department Wins Grant

Congressman Tom Petri reports that the Woodland Fire Department will receive a $47,545 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The funds will be used to purchase new turn-out gear - protective pants, coats, boots and helmets.

Fire Chief Bill Lackas said that much of the department's current turn-out gear is ripped, torn, and well-below safety standards.  "This is a big plus for us.  It has been very much needed," he said.

"The department has committed a lot of money to replacing a truck, and it needed help with this additional, very important concern.  Our firefighters deserve to be properly protected while they protect us," Petri commented.  "I want to congratulate the Woodland Fire Department for succeeding with its grant application to this highly competitive program."
