Petri Pays Respects at Fox Valley Sikh Temple

Rep. Tom Petri met Wednesday with Bhagwant Singh Balli, the priest at the Sikh Temple of Fox Valley.

"I was unable to attend Tuesday evening's vigil to mourn with the Sikh community after Sunday's shooting in Oak Creek.  I wanted to personally express my sympathy and concern for our Sikh friends and neighbors," Petri said.

"Mr. Balli told me that the general community was invited to the vigil, and they were expecting between 50 and 100 people to show up.  But over 400 people attended," said Petri.  "He said local Sikhs feel that they are in an area where people appreciate them and aren't trying to shut them out.  I'm very glad of that."
